Motherhood

Yesterday, I had a particularly hard day with my kids. One of those sobbing-on-the-phone-so-hard-that-my-husband-could-not-even-understand-what-I-was-saying days. One of those embarrassing, drag your children out of the grocery store while they are screaming days. Leaving all of your much needed groceries in the cart in the middle of an aisle.

My sister sent me the video below this morning. I know I am not the only one who has those hard days. I know that our Father in Heaven wants us to succeed as mothers. I know that He will help us when we ask for it. I know that my life as a mother will not be without trials, but I know I need to remember to ask my Heavenly Father for help through prayer. For the big and little things.

To all those mothers and mothers-to-be.

  1. So sorry you had a hard day!! I almost had one of those moments in the grocery store: dropping everything, but miraculously Ella shaped up. I admire you with your three little girls. I personally can't imagine how hard it must be. I whine and complain with just one.

Hope you're feeling a bit better. Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!

  2. I am sorry that you have one of those days Ashley, though we all know that those days will come! Sometimes being a parent can be so challenging and hard at times but always worth it! I have been where you are and have had those days a few times actually! I have actually left a cart full of stuff I really needed at the store because of the same thing. I was embaressed at all the people looking at me like I could not control my kids. Well at that point, I couldn't and that is why we left. Leaving, made my kids scream even louder because we did not get anything we had in the cart. It really sucked! Sorry you had to go through that too!

  3. So you were serious when you said "no" to Mit and me? :) You are such a great mother- I am not looking forward to those days but I like hearing other mothers such as you who I think as "perfect" go through those things so I know my hard days are not alone. Thank you for sharing the video. It brought tears to MY eyes and I HAVE groceries from the store yesterday :)

  4. Thanks for posting this, Ashley. I have talked with my sisters about those moments when you feel like a horrible, mean Mom and on top of it, no one knows how tiring and endless and thankless it all seems. Well, ALL parents have these moments and we all need to cut ourselves some slack. The video was really uplifting. We can all use the reminder that we're doing the most important work in the world.
