On Friday night we had family movie night and watched Ratatouille. It was a very entertaining movie and Leland especially enjoyed watching a movie with Mom, Dad, & Lucy.She became quite emotionally attached to Remy the mouse. Whenever Remy was not on screen she would repeatedly ask, "Where's the mouse? Where's the mouse? Where's the mouse?"
At one point, Remy becomes quite sad and the Disney/Pixar animators did a very good job at showing that expression up close as Remy walked off screen. Leland turned to me with big puppy-dog eyes and said, "The mouse is sad." Tears welled up in her eyes as I told her to take a deep breath, but it was too late. She started to wail... and it was at that point that I realized just how far animated movies have come such that Leland was truly connected with the emotions of the character. Ashley and I tried to console her, but it was very hard to stifle our giggles.
Ratatouille! We love that movie! As you probably have read from our blog! Rat-patotie! Great great movie! SO cute that she started crying! It really is a great emotional movie! A lot of the pixar movies do that to me! Nemo with the mom dying, toy stoy 2 with jessie and the girl that gives her away.... very emotional. So cute though that she was so attached and so concerned! We will bring our copy for Christmas! Love you guys!
